Additional Considerations for Future Funding Requests

In the past two years, the uncertainty of the economic downturn forced everyone—from government to philanthropy to nonprofit organizations—to reflect on where they have been and to prepare for more change on the horizon. Like our grantees, the Foundation has confronted investment losses and decisions about how best to target decreased funds for the greatest impact.

During this time, the trustees have conducted a thorough strategic planning process to create a framework for the future.  As we anticipate a reduction in grantmaking resources for 2010, we have decided to focus on funding efforts that are located in the Twin Cities 7-county metropolitan region (Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington Counties). As a result, we will not consider proposals for projects that serve Greater Minnesota. In addition, we have limited capacity to entertain requests from organizations that do not have an active or recent funding relationship with the Foundation.

Grant guidelines and submission deadlines will be available in early February 2010. If you have questions about these changes or would like further clarification, we encourage you to contact one of our staff members at 612.623.1654.
